Temporary Position


Job entails:

Start/Jump vehicles, drive, or move from the parking lot into designated shop area to prep vehicles for auction, removing vinyl decals from surplus vehicles and removing interior and exterior aftermarket equipment and hardware.

Drive light duty cars and trucks to pick up or deliver parts, vehicles, or personnel.

Clean shop area and surrounding area of old parts and clutter.

Job Description

Minimum Preparation for Work:

  • Ability to read, write and follow written instructions.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.

Nature of Work:

This is semi-skilled manual laboring work.

An employee in this class performs a variety of semi-skilled duties which require some experience or training. Assignments are outlined and supervised; on routine, repetitive assignments the employee's work is spot-checked to assure conformance to instructions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Some knowledge of the methods, tools, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of public works facilities with considerable knowledge of those needed in assigned work.
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled tasks without close supervision.
  • Ability to operate standard motor vehicles.
  • Ability to perform work involving physical strength and endurance and to withstand exposure to variable weather and working conditions.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to perform safely all phases of routine maintenance, and repair work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
  • Skill in the operation of small machines, tools, or less complex types of power equipment.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:

An employee in this job is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and has a risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
