Beyond TalentEdge is partnering with a leading nationwide medical manufacturer to hire a Senior Manager of Film Coating Operations.

This role leads all aspects of film coating production—driving operational excellence, product quality, safety, and team performance. The ideal candidate is a change agent with strong technical expertise in coating processes, experience in regulated manufacturing, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily film coating operations to meet production, quality, safety, and cost objectives

  • Lead EHS and environmental compliance upgrades, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace

  • Drive continuous improvement to optimize coating uniformity, yield, and throughput while minimizing waste and downtime

  • Apply formal problem-solving tools and technical expertise to troubleshoot coating chemistries, formulations, and slitting processes

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain on new product introductions, validations, and technical challenges

  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA, and OSHA standards

  • Lead and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and technicians, fostering accountability and learning

  • Support or lead capital projects involving equipment upgrades, facility expansion, and automation

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

  • Director of Manufacturing: Align strategic and tactical manufacturing metrics; execute continuous improvement initiatives supporting long-term goals

  • Quality: Partner on inspection control plans, system controls, and audit readiness to ensure quality and compliance

  • Planning/Supply Chain: Communicate capacity constraints, technical challenges, and production feedback; support production planning and material flow optimization

  • Finance: Review financial reports, monitor cost variances, and lead scrap and MUV (Material Usage Variance) reduction efforts

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Coating Engineering (Master’s preferred)

  • 8–10 years in manufacturing operations, including 3–5 years in leadership

  • Experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, medical device, or related)

  • Strong knowledge of film coating, web handling, and process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) preferred

  • Proficient in cGMP environments and documentation practices

  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills

Salary & Benefits:

$128K-$218K
