Beyond TalentEdge has a direct hire opportunity for an experienced Service Manager for our client a local leader that provides service across a broad region including Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and extending to the PA border. Their expertise spans various fields of Electrical Construction

Responsibilities – this is a partial list (a full job description is available for interested/qualified candidates):

  • Manage the administrative and customer service functions of the Service Department

  • Maintain open and positive communication (both in verbal and written form) with employees, departments, customers and vendors

  • Maintain appropriate staffing level and workload distribution to meet customer and business needs

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and recommend policy changes as needed

  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the Service Department and expense control

  • Proactive and reactive management of all service personnel including hiring, training, motivation, career development, reviews and safety

  • Organize and present at weekly tech meetings and safety training

  • Perform annual merit reviews and development planning for service personnel

  • Analyze service productivity and recommend changes to improve customer service and profitability

  • Maintain high quality service delivery in an efficient, productive and profitable manner

  • Oversee warehouse, inventory and vehicle management

  • Maintain ongoing maintenance schedules for service accounts

  • Review and approve all replacement requests

  • Organize, coordinate and schedule all scheduled maintenance, replacement and Customer service work order

  • Assist or assign assistance for technician on accounts to ensure work quality

  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

 

Qualifications:

  • (5) years experience of managing (10) or more electricians and service technicians in a commercial electrical service & maintenance operation

  • (5) years experience in Service Management and Dispatch software, GPS vehicle monitoring and Microsoft Office & Outlook

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required

  • Applicant must be familiar with a variety of the electrical field's concepts, practices, best practice, and procedures including the technical ability to understand and interpret Electrical Codes, Life Safety Codes, NFPA, Uniform Building Codes and Lighting Systems where applicable

  • Experience and knowledge of electrical applications, permits, electrical maintenance goals, Facility Maintenance Application & PM standards

  • Journeyman's Electrical license

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Positive customer service skills; experience in electrical and lighting is a plus.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Service Technicians, Service Helpers and Shop Hand.

 

Physical Requirements:  Job is physically demanding

  • Ability to climb ladders and steep stairs, sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crawl, crouch, kneel, bend or stoop, and perform repetitive motions of the hands, arms, and/or fingers.

  • Ability to work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by oneself.

  • Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed the weight limit of the ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.)

  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

 

Job Type/Hours/Environment/Pay:

  • Full-time- Direct Hire

  • Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000

  • Ability to work overtime, early starts, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Adaptability to use construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses) and a respirator when required.

  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow. The worker is regularly exposed to occupational hazards which require special precautions and occasional exposure to serious injury and subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions such as, electrical current, noise, fumes, dust, moving parts and equipment, and exposure to outdoor weather elements.
