Beyond TalentEdge has started our recruiting efforts for several Prep Cooks at a local college

 

A prep cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and performing basic cooking tasks in support of the kitchen staff. The job duties of a prep cook include:

  • Preparing food ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables, fruits, and meats.

  • Measuring and mixing ingredients to the recipe's specifications.

  • Ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and of good quality.

  • Assisting with the preparation of dishes such as salads, soups, and sauces.

  • Completing simple tasks, such as peeling potatoes, seeding peppers or washing lettuce.

  • Operating kitchen equipment, such as food processors, grinders, and blenders.

  • Maintaining cleanliness of prep areas and tools.

  • Organizing ingredients to facilitate cooking processes.

  • Storing food items after they have been prepped in accordance with food safety regulations.

  • Assisting the chefs with any other tasks as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Needs to be able to follow direction, communicate effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Have knowledge of basic cooking techniques, a strong work ethic, and a passion for cooking

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must be available to work weekends

 

 Pay rate $16.00 - $16.50 an hour
