About this Opportunity:
The Swiss Set-Up Machinist reports to the Swiss department lead, this position will have direct responsibility for the set-up and manufacture of components within the Swiss machining department. This company is a complete product development partner that specializes in partnering with innovative companies to provide design support and process development. Our extensive machining and fabricating capabilities enhance product design, prototyping, component manufacturing, and finished device assembly. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain the ISO 13485 standards documentation, set up and operate equipment, and perform visual and dimensional inspections on machined components using various precision measuring equipment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
•Set up, operate, and maintain Citizen L20, M32, and K16 Swiss lathes to produce precision medical device components.
•Perform offsets, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize production with minimal supervision.
•Set up both legacy parts and new production orders to ensure stable and efficient machine operation.
•Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure consistent machine performance and longevity.
•Perform visual and dimensional inspections using equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges, comparators, Micro-Vu, CMM, and vision systems.
•Maintain material control, identification, and traceability for both conforming and nonconforming materials.
•Troubleshoot complex machine and process issues, driving problem-solving activities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
•Document inspection results and ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and GMP standards.
•Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and process optimization.
•Assist in training and mentoring less experienced machinists, promoting a collaborative work environment.
•Document inspections, process controls, and material traceability.
•Ensure a safe work environment by following OSHA guidelines and company safety policies, including PPE requirements.
What makes you a great fit:
•3–7 years of experience in precision machining, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment.
•Strong understanding of tight tolerance machining and GD&T principles.
•Knowledge of ISO 13485, GMP, and quality best practices in regulated manufacturing.
•Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and process specifications.
•Proficient in machine math/shop math and using hand tools for maintenance and tool changes.
•Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to identify and address nonconformances.
