About this Opportunity:

As a Senior CNC Milling Setup/Operator, you will be responsible for overseeing the setup and operation of advanced CNC equipment, ensuring all setups are efficient, accurate, and meet customer specifications. You will lead setup operations for complex and high-precision parts, mentor junior machinists, and collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Type of equipment: Haas, Robodrill, Mazak vertical mills, Kitamura.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead and manage the setup of CNC Milling machines for complex parts with tight tolerances.

Develop and refine (where applicable) CNC setup procedures to improve efficiency, reduce setup times, and increase overall machine uptime.

Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to determine machining requirements and identify potential challenges.

Oversee the selection and installation of tools, fixtures, and cutting strategies to optimize the machining process.

Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve issues related to part design, machining processes, and material handling.

Troubleshoot and resolve advanced machine or process problems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

Perform in-depth inspections of completed parts and provide feedback on quality control standards and processes.

Mentor and train junior CNC set up machinists and operators in advanced setup techniques, machine troubleshooting, and safety protocols.

Lead process improvement initiatives, utilizing lean manufacturing principles to enhance machining efficiency and reduce waste.

Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain detailed records of machine setups, tooling, and production parameters.

 

What makes you a great fit:

High school diploma or equivalent, with a technical degree or certification in CNC machining, engineering, or a related field.

7+ years of experience as a CNC machinist, with extensive experience in machine setup, and troubleshooting.

Advanced knowledge of CNC machine operation, G-code, tooling, and fixture setup.

Experience with multi-axis CNC machining and complex, high-precision part production.

Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and training junior machinists.

Expertise in interpreting complex technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.

Ability to utilize advanced measuring equipment (e.g., CMMs, laser mic’s etc.) for part inspection and quality control.

In-depth knowledge of quality control standards, machining processes, and lean manufacturing principles.

Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure to meet production deadlines.

Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
