    • Summary:

      Die Maintenance Technician, Millwrights, works in the Die Maintenance Department and maintains die cast tooling.


      Repairs of transmission die:

      Repair or replace ejector & core pins.

      Repair or replace water lines, water line smc, bubbler tubes.

      Repair die breaks consistent of Tig welding on die & grinding or polishing weld back to die form with pencil grinder & various bits.

      Water test & air pressure test dies for leaks of water & air.

      Sometimes rebuild cores of dies.

      Operates overhead crane. 


      Responsibilities:

      • Assesses damages to dies in production, determines equipment and personnel needed to perform required repair to ensure no further damage to die. Ensures that deadlines are met to perform various repairs.  
      • Responds to requests from engineering on dies not in production and confirms that proper approval has been received before implementing any ECR on the dies.
      • Performs trimming, pressing and other related finishing activities to complete the die repair or maintenance process.
      • Performs other general welding and steel fabricating activities to make machine parts and assist other departments.
      • Maintains responsibilities for activities during shift, including prioritizing work, ensuring inventory is maintained, accounting for all department materials and equipment used during that shift, and ensuring quality output and coverage when needed to meet deadlines.
      • Troubleshoots more complicated jobs and recommends the best approach to repair.
      • Ensures that workers on assigned shifts adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
      • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
      • Assists in the preparation of annual employee performance appraisals.
      • Completes preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned.
      • Recommends additional training needs for employees.
      • Oversees an assigned team of Die Maintenance Operators and Leads.
      • Attends all departmental and company scheduled meetings.


      • Requirements:

      • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
      • Experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred.
    • Welding experience, including exposure to mig, arc, and tig welding preferred.

      • Good mechanical skills. The ability to disassemble and reassemble mechanical equipment.
      • Ability to use various hand tools such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
      • Knowledge of the basic blueprint reading and basic machine practices.
      • Use calipers and micrometers for dimensional inspections.
      • Use of oxygen acetylene torch.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in manufacturing setting with welding experience in arc, mig, and tig welding preferred.
