Accounting Specialist needed in Manatee/Sarasota area
Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (one hour unpaid lunch = 35 hours a week)
Payrate: $24 - $27/hr. Depending on Experience
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Those with Non-Profit experience preferred
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position serves as endowment, accounts payable, and accounts receivable administrator.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
· Ensures timely processing of accounts payable
· Maintains accurate vendor files and assuring that two active signatories sign each check
· Transfers funds to cover disbursements as needed
· Processes monthly sales tax payable
· Maintains utility records for all buildings on campus
· Prepares yearly 1099s for distribution
· Collaborates with staff on expense reports, program financial reports, and AP questions as needed
· Processes and records all deposits and credit card payments, including donor contribution payments, advertising payments, ticket sales payments, missions and lease payments, etc.
· Generates News invoices and statements
· Collaborates to collect payments and computes commissions for Account Executive
· Responsible for all charitable funds and trusts
· Records transactions in General Ledger and other Endowment Management Systems
· Records advertising sales journal
· Prepares quarterly endowment reports — schedule of funds balances, expectancy report, and any special endowment reports
· Manages the Endowments fund activity, including sending quarterly Endowment statements and disbursing funds from the specific Endowment funds as requested
· In collaboration with the Sr. Accountant, assists in reconciliations to banks, donor management system, and other systems
· Assists with the Annual Audit and 990 Form preparation
· Delivers special projects as assigned by the CFO

· Tracks the activities and outputs of multiple projects simultaneously, including creating and maintaining interconnecting project dashboards
· Understands Credits and Debits
· Associate Degree in Accounting required (Bachelor’s preferred)
· 4+ years of Bookkeeping/AP/AR experience may be substituted for the education requirement
· Nonprofit experience is a plus
