Seeking a skilled and compassionate Cook to join the Victor Senior Center. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of scratch-made meals to be delivered to homebound seniors as well as served at the congregate meals to promote socialization and avoid isolation.
Duties:
- Check-in all shipments, ensuring temperature control and accuracy in products delivered.
- Interpret monthly menu.
- Notify the Nutrition Supervisor of necessary menu changes.
- Manage supplies and inventory and notify the Nutrition Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor of all ordering needs.
- Prepare ingredients following all FDA/USDA guidelines.
- Prepare food for all Meals on Wheels clients and site congregate meals.
- Ensure the space is clean and sanitary at the end of the shift.
- Check email during shifts.
- Print food labels, route sheets, and more using an on-site computer.
- Enter data into our ServTracker application, used to report numbers to state and federal agencies.
- Ensure all food is clearly labeled and put away at the end of the shift.
- Follow FIFO (first in first out) rules, disposing of expired or unsafe foods appropriately.
- Prepare cardboard and aluminum cans for recycling.
- This position may be required to shop for immediate needs or items not delivered by vendors. Permission should be obtained for any unusual or expensive ingredients.
- This position has a great deal of autonomy and will manage and work with the Cook’s Assistant to ensure exemplary food and amazing customer service to clients and volunteers.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Cook or similar role in a restaurant or food service establishment.
- Solid knowledge of various cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Able to use a wide variety of culinary tools and equipment.
- Valid current driver’s license.
- Reliable vehicle with proof of full coverage insurance.
- Able to lift 50+lbs.
- Background check and drug screen required upon offer of employment.
Job Type: Part-time 26-30 hrs., Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Wage: $14-18/hr. DOE mileage reimbursement of $0.575/mile
